MEKONG – Ethnic People & Floating Market

Starting from Ben Tre Town, take a boat to the brickwork to see workers make bricks in the handy traditional method, visit one of the coconut processing workshops run by farmers along the canal, travel along natural scissors canals that appear narrower and spread out to rural villages, and stop at a family making sleep mats and enjoying fruits and tea while chatting with locals.

Riding on a motor cart or bike on a shady road, pass by green rice fields and vegetable plains. Have lunch in a local restaurant. Have a look at the vast coconut jungle and Mekong River. Stop at the candy workshop to taste a little bit sweet.
Stop at Cho Thom – the biggest coconut market in the delta. Witness several large handy workshops spreading 3km along the riverside, processing products from coconut. (nut, fiber, oil…).

Conquer the mighty Mekong River (4km wide) by Co Chien suspension bridge.
Stay overnight at a hotel in Tra Vinh

Visit Cave Pagoda, and learn about sculptures from the pagoda workshop Mon runs. Visit the Khmer Museum, Ang Pagoda.

Have lunch. Continue to Can Tho by getting over the biggest suspension brigade.

Spend a night in Can Tho

Breakfast.

Depart for the Cai Rang floating market where locals go to buy and sell a variety of fruits and vegetables from boats of all sizes, which are the region’s most original and bustling places. Sellers tie their goods to a tall pole so that buyers can see what they are selling from afar. Seat on the local trading boat, witness boasting activities in the market, and discover more about natives living in the stilt house near the river. Lunch in a Restaurant (optional). Get back to Ho Chi Minh City.
