The Great Holy See Temple, built in 1926, is considered one of the most striking structures in all of Southeast Asia. It is the center of the Cao Dai temple, a religion that blends Buddhism, Christianity, and Confucianism. Explore this fascinating site and attend the colorful noon-day mass held by the Cao Dai followers. It is an experience not to be missed. After lunch, visit the Cu Chi Tunnels.
Located 60km from Ho Chi Minh City, Cu Chi is now considered a heroic district for its role during the American war in Vietnam. It is legendary for its network of tunnels, which extends over 220km, and is a popular destination for both Vietnamese and foreign visitors.
Departing from HCMC to Cao Dai Temple where Cao Dai’s followers hold daily Mass at noon. Cao Dai is a combination of Confucianism, Christianity, Taoism, and Buddhism. Afterward, have lunch at a nearby restaurant.
Arriving at Cu Chi tunnels (Ben Dinh) and proceeding to an underground hut to watch a short video and presentation about Cu Chi tunnels before having a real hands-on experience of what it took to live in them. Afterward, test-tasting the steamed tapioca root, the main staple food in Cu Chi during the war. For those interested, there is an opportunity to fire off an AK47 or MK16 with real ammunition at the nearby shooting range.
