The difference between the Coconut Country tour and Conquer Islands is that we’ll go on a long boat trip on a small river and scissor canals just in Ben Tre. Besides going on a boat, you can trek by bike or tuk-tuk on coconut shady paths to see the tranquil village and touch on the real life in the countryside. Plus, the best part is getting on the rowing boat so you can sense the serenity of the natural country.
When you arrive at Ben Tre pier, let’s take a boat trip along the Ben Tre River. On this trip, you can not only take in the lushness of the mangrove trees but also see the locals going about their daily lives – moving coconuts and rice husks, setting fish traps, etc.).
Plus, you can learn more about some of the traditional crafts along the route by visiting the brickwork and witnessing artisans create bricks using a traditional handy method. Visit one of the coconut processing workshops along the canal to sample fresh coconut and see how every part of this versatile nut is turned into food and other products. Continue to the coconut candy mill, where you can see the process of making coconut candies, and taste some sweets.
Then, proceed on scissors canals until you reach a small rural village.
When reaching the village, you can take a short walk to get a taste of village life by chatting with local people. Also, you can see how straw mats are woven by a handloom at a mat-weaving house. The interesting part is that you can give it a try to weave a mat yourself.
Then, let’s hop on a motorcar or bike and pass by green rice fields and vegetable plains on the shady road to enjoy the fullest tranquility of the village. Your next destination is a local restaurant with a delicious lunch featuring such regional specialties as elephant-ear fish and river shrimp.
After a good lunch, you’ll take a sampan boat to see the “gem” of this tour – the silent water palms canal. You shall be amazed at how Mother Nature could create such wonderful, peaceful scenery with the water palms wildly grown and creating the opening dome leading directly to the big river. The boat will pick you up at the big river to go back to the pier.
Tour end.
