Ben Tre animal-shaped trees

12/08/2015 - 19:15

Trees pruned and clipped into animal shapes by local residents in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre have been exported to Singapore and Australia to be displayed at tourism parks.

The trees are made by growing ficus microcarpa trees in zinc frames that are curved in the shapes of dragons, rabbits, deer, swans, and kangaroos.

Nguyen Van Cong, a maker of ornamental plants in Cho Lach District, said his facility has exported three containers of animal-shaped trees to Singapore this year and is preparing to ship 500 animal-shaped frames to Australia.

The deal is worth several hundred millions of dong, he said.

Cong also traveled to Singapore following the product exports to provide technical support to his partners.

His products are now displayed at Gardens by the Bay and Singapore Botanic Gardens, Cong said.

The economic bureau of Cho Lach District said Nam Cong is the pioneer for other tree-shaping facilities in the area to export their products.

In the coming time, yellow apricot blossoms grown in the district will also be exported to the US, an official said.
