Nowadays, coconut oil is produced by machines in every factory with faster speed; but we’ll not discuss this. We’ll reveal to you the traditional way to make coconut oil by hand.
What to prepare
- Ingredients: grated coconut meat (from old coconut), heated water.
- Tools: Pan, filter cloth, small sieve, glass jar.
How to make coconut oil
There are 4 simple steps to make coconut oil.
- Step 1: Place all the old coconut meat into heated water and soak for about 20 – 30 minutes to let the coconut flesh absorb the water.
- Step 2: Put all the soaked coconut flesh and squeeze coconut milk through a filter cloth. Then, filter through a small sieve to remove impurities.
- Step 3: Pour the juice into a pan and cook over high heat, continuously stirring for 45-60 minutes.
- Step 4: Once the coconut component has condensed and become golden yellow. Use a sieve and a cloth to filter the coconut oil into a glass jar.
Every 2-3 old coconuts, producing 1 kilogram of coconut meat, may yield approximately 100-150 ml of coconut oil.
How to preserve
- Store between 18-25 degrees Celsius (room temperature). Avoid direct sunlight.
- Expiry date: preferably used within 02 years.
